One of the most stressful shooting days is over and done with - and it went much smoother than I initially dreaded. We were privileged enough to film in a closed down wing of a real hospital thanks to the hard efforts by one of our cast members. Sadly our day was marked with a flaky actress who has decided to opt out of the film. I’ll delay any comment at this time about the situation because it’s not professional - but some of you know I can also be far from professional

We had a blast filming a a few bloody murder scenes this evening. While the shoot was almost ruined because the timing belt blew out on my car’s engine, I was close enough to the filming location when it happened that a friend was able to help over to the spot just before the actors arrived. That was a close one.

We were rained out today! This is the first time I have ever had to cancel a shoot due to the weather. I thought we would still be able to film on Friday, but soon the clouds gathered and it rained all night long! I checked the location on Saturday morning and it was muddy as hell! There was no way I was going to make the actors and crew crawl around in the muck so we called it off. We’ll re-schedule for another date.

Mr. Buttons - First Day of Filming Completed! (0)

Today way our first day of filming for Mr. Buttons! We endured a 6 hour shoot and tackled approximately 1/4 of the film’s subject matter. Our cast was fantastic! I am especially grateful to the parents who trusted the lives of their children to me while I acted like I really knew what I was doing We’re off to a running start and I hope to have this puppy wrapped in a few more weeks.

We have selected all of the members of our cast. We had a ton of talented people audition for the film. Unfortunately we have to narrow it down and fill the gaps. Most of the people people that have read the script have had good things to say about the story. Hopefully we will be able to translate this tale into pictures and cause a few goose bumps in the process.

On July 28, 2006 we posted the casting call for Mr. Buttons. So far we have received over 380 individual submissions from actors all over the world who are interested in having apart in the our new film. Invitations for an audition were sent out today and we hope to have a great turnout for our auditions next weekend.

I had a meeting with the designer for the clown doll today. I am very happy with the way it is coming along. It’s one thing to draw a creepy little clown, it’s another thing to see it come to life.

The second draft of the script is in the works. Preliminary story boarding and Budgeting has begun. The storyline has taken some interesting twists and turns. I hope people are going to like this one.

Well, the Fangoria convention has blown over, Mail Order Bride is taking off and I am starting to edit Glitch - this is the perfect time to start revisiting the script for Mr. Buttons and get psyched up for crafting 2nd draft.

I have completed the first draft of the Mr. Buttons screenplay. I have always been a fan of scary clown dolls, so now it’s my turn to take a stab at it - heh heh heh - yes, the pun was intended. If you’ve seen my porn flick Clown Porn: The Movie, then you know how crazy and creepy I like my clowns to be! Fans of Slaughter Disc will have to hold their breath a little longer for the Splatter Porn to ooze under their fingernails.

Right now I don’t foresee this film really having any sexual overtones. Sure, I could force in a fuck scene and a gratuitous tit shot for you to jerk off with, but what would I really be accomplishing?

I originally wanted this project to be a silent black and white film, but after the first draft of the script was completed I realized I had yet again created a great new character to entertain you with. A five-minute silent film may look creepy, but personally I have a very hard time with this short film crap - I’m going to shoot for a 30 minute festival version and maybe go a little longer for the directors cut. Fuck, it’s just words on paper as of right now, so it will be interesting to see how this monster grows.

My biggest problem with writing short films always happens when I type “The End” and I still have a million ideas swirling around in my head - usually this is the point in time when I say “Fuck it, let’s make it a feature” then I look at the bank account and it’s near null balance helps reinforce the notion in my skull that it’s best to stick to shorts right now.
